Heather Jerred

Heather has a BA in Communication and Political Science, a love for stouts, and 7 years of experience in the craft beer industry. She's a certified Cicerone with a certificate in Malting from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling, ensuring that every pour is not only delicious, but also expertly crafted. When she's not busy raising a glass, you can find her spending time with her furry best friend, a black lab retriever named after her favorite rockstar, Eddie Vedder.

Shanleigh Thomson

Shanleigh has been in the alcohol beverage industry for the last 10 years. She is from Winnipeg, Canada, and has her Masters in Food Science from Purdue University. She was a formulation specialist for Diageo in Chicago before completing here Master Brewers Certificate from UC Davis. From there, she brewed and was a production manager in Seattle before moving to Minnesota and then back to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada where she worked in brewing ingredient and malt sales before starting with Yakima Chief Hops. She loves to educate brewers, and those new to the industry.

This tour is about education, exploring new research in beer ingredients, and connecting suppliers with brewers. Heather and Shanleigh are two separate individuals who work for two companies in the beer & fermentation industry with their own focus, knowledge and experiences that they want to share through these events- here to inspire discussion and comradery in the Western Canadian Market.
